  1. I feel that the reason Kien did not shoot Quang was because he was just to wired to think straight. He had all the adrenaline pumping through him, but his mind wasn't keeping up with everything. He also may have just been shocked. There are many ways to interpret that part of the book and only the author could say the exact way he meant for it to be.

    1. That is a good response! I did not come at it at that angle, but rather a moral view. I think he thought that killing him would make him a murderer rather than end his suffering.

  2. Question 2

Writing seemed to be an outlet for Kien's frustration and aggression. It was something he could do to ease his mind, even though he relived painful memories through it. It is like having a friend to express yourself to, free of judgment.

    1. That is exactly what i was thinking. I believe that he had so much built up feelings that writing just was his way to vent. He almost could not control it as the emotions basically had to come out when he began.

  3. 2.) He felt that it was his heavenly duty. Although it brought back horrific memories it also eased his mind in a kind of way.

  4. That's a good answer. Like I said to Isaiah, I feel that venting was good for him. I think that in bringing up those horrible memories, he was able to get over them in a sense.
